LA SAGRA DEL GILLOBILLO
In collaboration with Borgofuturo Social camp.
La Sagra del Gillobillo emerged from a collective process developed during a week of workshops at the Borgofuturo Social Camp. The project began with an artistic proposal of mine: the invention of the Gillobillo, a (fictional) traditional pasta conceived as a means of fostering collective practices that explore the concept of tradition. Building on this idea, together with the Social Camp participants, we organised a festival dedicated to this fictional tradition in just a few days, bringing the village’s public spaces to life through various activities: the collective preparation of food in the square, a parade under the Gillobillo banner, and a community dinner accompanied by a concert.
THE GILLIBILLI
This is a hand-made egg pasta. Each Gillobillo is prepared individually by wrapping a single strand of tagliatelle around a rod and then sprinkling it with golden food colouring. The Gillobilli lose their shape and colour during cooking, thus symbolising the transience and arbitrariness of the concept of Tradition.
